Best Neighborhoods for Trick-or-Treating in LA

Halloween is nearly upon us, and here are some of my picks for the best trick-or-treating to be had in Los Angeles!

Top Trick-or-Treating Neighborhoods in LA:

  • Toluca Lake (Cross Streets: Toluca Estates Drive and Valley Spring Lane)

Toluca Lake is a legend even among the best trick-or-treating neighborhoods in the country. Of course that is to be expected from a neighborhood whose residents include many of the creative prodigies from the nearby film studios- everyone from set designers to special effects wizards.

  • Studio City (Cross Streets: Laurel Terrace and Mound View)

Studio City just west of Laurel Canyon is a great trick-or-treating spot for families. This Valley neighborhood features homes that are decorated to the hilt in Halloween spirit. Plenty of carved jack o’lanterns and spooky scenes add to the fun atmosphere in this family friendly neighborhood.

Every kid knows the one house on the block that hands out King-sized candy bars. Well, in Beverly Hills, that’s apparently every house. Head to ‘the flats’ to take advantage of the easy walking and to gaze at beautiful mansions. And don’t forget to pay a visit to the famous ‘Witch’s House’ at 516 Walden Dr.—it looks like that all year round! Beware though, parking in the residential areas after 6pm is by permit only!

  • Burbank (Cross Streets: Mariposa and Valleyheart)

Burbank is another quiet neighborhood whose residents go all out on Halloween. Of course, many of the residents just happen to be the talented designers behind your favorite Disney films and more. That means elaborate movie-set quality decorations, haunted houses, and live performances.

Halloween in Silverlake is some of the best trick-or-treating in the city! In addition to being a candy-lover’s paradise, the neighborhood residents take care to deck out their homes in ghostly features ranging from traditional jack o’lanterns to full-blown haunted houses. If you’re lucky, you may be able to catch a live stage show!

Thousands of eager trick-or-treaters flock to this upscale neighborhood each Halloween. Streets like Arden Blvd and Rossmore Ave boast numerous haunted mansions decked out with over-the-top decorations. Don’t forget the downtown Larchmont area though! They really know how to get into the Halloween spirit! It is better to come early for the little ones as the later crowds may be a little overwhelming. Feels like a movie set!
