Here are some of my favorite activities around Los Angeles during the first two weeks of July:
Chinatown Summer Nights Chinatown Summer Nights are back every 1st Saturday right in the heart of Los Angeles’s Chinatown. Chinatown Summer Nights is part street festival and part all out block party featuring gourmet food trucks, Chinese fireworks, live music, craft brews, and dance parties with KCRW DJs. There is also plenty to see from local artists and merchants, as well as cooking demonstrations, cultural activities, a monkey (you heard me), and much, much more! Did I mention it’s FREE?!
When: Every 1st Sat. through Sept.2nd 5pm-midnight (although many local shops are open earlier, and the bars stay open later)
Where: Chinatown Central & West Plaza (943 – 951 N. Broadway, Los Angeles CA 90012)
July 4th Fireworks
Independence Day means patriotism, cookouts, and of course, Fireworks! There are countless displays taking place across the city, so check out my previous post of some of my Favorite Fireworks Displays that Los Angeles has to offer!
Twilight Concert Series at the Santa Monica Pier
Grab a blanket, a cooler, and 15-20 or your closest friends and head on over to the Santa Monica Pier for annual summer Twilight Concert Series! The popular concerts take place every Thursday through Aug. 17th, and best of all- they’re completely FREE! The music starts at 7pm, but you may want to get there early as the pier can get crowded… VERY crowded. In fact, most of the crowds watch from below the pier where the surrounding sands turn into one huge beach party!
When: every Thursday at 7pm through Aug. 17th (Skipping Jul. 6th)
Where: Santa Monica Pier
Parking: Limited (paid) parking on the pier, however it’s a great opportunity to try out the newly completed Expo Line stop just a stone’s throw from the pier!
