Here are some of my favorite events happening around Los Angeles for the second two weeks of July:
If you aren’t able to make it to Santa Barbara for the CA Wine Festival, don’t worry- Garagiste brings the wine festival to you! The Garagiste Wine Festival showcases the wines of 50 high-quality, limited-production, commercial winemakers who are making under 1500 cases per year from all over California. Featuring small-lot wines that can be very hard to find, the festival aims to support these emerging winemakers and those without large marketing budgets- Over 60% of these winemakers don’t have a tasting room. This is a great opportunity to meet these artisans in person and taste their passion. This year’s festival takes place in the historic Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club in Santa Monica.
When: Saturday, July 15, 2017 2:00pm – 6:00pm
Where: Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club in Santa Monica

Cultural events, pop-ups, and other surprises transform the vast site into a new node in Downtown LA’s burgeoning scene, and a unique destination for the region. Sorry, no pets allowed.

In its 9th season, Barnsdall Art Park welcomes Angelenos to sip wine, picnic and watch the sunset (with stunning views overlooking the city) for Friday Night Wine tastings at Frank Lloyd Wright’s UNESCO-nominated Hollyhock House. The event, which attracts sellout crowds, features music, fine selections of boutique artisanal wines from Silverlake Wine, and a number of rotating food trucks, as well as pop-ups by Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and The Cheese Store of Silverlake. Tickets cost $35 for a tasting and $50 for a tasting + tour. While families of all ages are invited to enjoy the Park, picnic, and dance, due to legal regulations, only ages 21+ will be allowed inside the fence for the Hollyhock House Tour or the wine tasting. exhibitions.

Entering their 8th year, the annual Los Angeles Feast will once again take place in DTLA, a new epicenter of culinary innovation, to showcase the best of the city’s Asian and Asian-influenced chefs and mixologists. Angelenos are perhaps the most sophisticated eaters when it comes to Asian grub, which is why this year’s Feast will showcase the most popular foods from Asia’s eating capitals as interpreted by up-and-coming chefs. Come enjoy food truck favorites, popular pop-ups, and old favorites — all under one roof with plenty of Asian-influenced cocktails to wash down the grub.

Griffith Park Shakespeare Festival
The Independent Shakespeare Company presents the Free Shakespeare Festival in Griffith Park of Los Feliz. The annual festival, which includes family events, workshops, mainstage shows with pre-show entertainment, runs all summer long. The mainstage is located in the heart of the old Griffith Park Zoo (don’t worry, the animals moved out decades ago!). This year, they are presenting Shakespeare’s MEASURE FOR MEASURE and THE TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, and your favorite picnic food, and prepare to be entertained! (Free, but donations are encouraged.)
When: See the website for shows, workshops, and events details.
Where: The Old Griffith Park Zoo
