My Favorite November Events
Here are some of my favorite events happening around LA for the first half of November!
Downtown Los Angeles Art Walk
In case you missed my previous post about the DTLA Art Walk, the Art Walk is back again featuring over 40 different art galleries and museums spread throughout downtown Los Angeles‘ various historic districts. This is more than just a simple walking tour- there’s food, music, and various festivities and programs to entertain the approximately 10,000 Art Walk patrons. Come immerse yourself in a world of free expression and experience true LA culture at its finest while supporting local artists. More info at http://downtownartwalk.org/
When: Thursday, November 9th from noon-10pm, but the party really kicks off around 6pm with the opening of the Art Walk Lounge located at 634 S. Spring St. at the MALDEF building.
Where: Mainly in the Historic Core between 4th and 9th and Spring and Main Streets. However, the galleries and restaurants spread beyond to the Fashion District, South Park and the Financial District.
Artists and Fleas
Artists & Fleas is a one-of-a-kind flea market that proudly proclaims to have been "disrupting retail for more than a decade." The founders remain focused on curating a selection of merchants who "best represent the culture and craft" of each neighborhood. Since it’s inception in 2003 in New York City, Artists & Fleas has hosted thousands of merchants hawking unique vintage and contemporary designs in the tradition of old world marketplaces. Named by HGTV as one of their "Must Visit Artist Co-ops and Markets" in the US and consistently on Time Out New York’s list of Best Places to Shop in New York City. It now comes to Venice on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of every month. More info. here!
When: 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice
Where: Every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 11AM – 5PM
DesignerCon
Designer Con is an annual art and design convention that smashes together collectible toys and designer goods with urban, underground and pop art! Founded in 2006 under the name Vinyl Toy Network, the show was created to bring together artists, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers in the vinyl toy/collectible figures market. The first show was in an 1,100 sq. ft. meeting room at the Pasadena Convention Center and has now grown into over 90,000 sq. ft. with over 350 vendors, art & custom shows, live demonstrations, and much more. Have fun and meeting all your favorite artists, designers, manufacturers, and vendors! More info at: http://www.designercon.com
When: November 11-12, 2017
Where: Pasadena Convention Center (300 East Green St. Pasadena, CA 91101)
Free National Parks!
There are more than 400 national parks available to everyone, every day. The fee-free days provide a great opportunity to visit a new place or an old favorite, especially one of the national parks that normally charge an entrance fee including Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Sequoia & Kings Canyon. The fee waiver includes entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Get out and enjoy nature! (but expect more people and less parking than usual). See all park details here.
When: November 11-12, 2017
Where: All across the nation!
