So, You’re Not Going to Coachella…

I get it. Maybe it’s not exactly your scene- the unforgiving daytime heat, dust storms, unwashed masses of people, and the occasional Justin Bieber. Believe me, I totally get it. Still, the annual music festival that takes place over the course of two weekends every April attracts over half a million visitors each year! 

But what about the rest of us- the "left-behind?" What about those of us who choose to remain in the deserted, post-apocalyptic, shell that once was the bustling city of Los Angeles? Okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but what are we to do while everyone else is at Coachella?

 Don’t worry- Here are a few great community events taking place this weekend right here in Larchmont!

"Earn Your Wings"

Get in shape while helping the community by participating in the "Earn Your Wings" fundraiser at Flywheel Larchmont! The event benefits St. Vincent Meals on Wheels organization that prepares and delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles. Every registered bike will feed a senior for two weeks while VIP level seats will feed a senior for an entire month!

Books

Larchmont’s own Chevalier’s Books is hosting Irin Carmon, co- author of "Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg" in conversation with Laura Brill, attorney and ex-RBG law clerk. The talk will include a Q&A as well as a book signing. 

 

And for the kids: John C. Fremont Branch Library is hosting readings this Saturday from 2p.m.-4p.m. Children will be able to read stories together with STAR library volunteer reader, David, and even earn a free book! Get details here.
