Where to Find Outdoor Ice-Skating in Los Angeles
Southern California is known for sun, sand, and surf, but something magical is happening in Los Angeles- Ice Skating rinks are popping up all over the city!
Holiday Ice Rink Pershing Square
Each year, Pershing Square hosts Downtown on Ice- a massive outdoor ice-skating rink set amidst the towering skyscrapers of Downtown L.A. The Pershing Square rink has been a seasonal LA landmark for the last 18 years. This year, they are hosting "Arabian Nights", a Disney’s ALADDIN-themed skate session every Wednesday from 5:30pm- 8:pm. Special events include youth programs, curling lessons, a silent disco skate, concerts, and DJ nights. Underground parking is available, or you can take the Metro!

ICE at Santa Monica
ICE in downtown Santa Monica is up and running for the 11th year in a row. Located in a parking lot at 5th and Arizona, this 8,000 square foot outdoor rink is just step away from the Third Street Promenade. Skating lessons are offered for groups and individuals. There is even the Tot Spot—a separate enclosed rink for children aged 6 and under—and a concession stand serving up hot dogs, snacks, and plenty of hot chocolate. Skate rentals are included in the admission price. Also available for birthday parties.

L.A. Kings Holiday Ice at LA Live
Occupying the heart of Downtown’s L.A. Live plaza, the L.A. Kings Holiday Ice at L.A. Live is one of the largest ice-skating rinks in the city. The centerpiece of this ring is a massive, sparkling, Christmas tree adorned with lights and decorations. Some of the nearby restaurants also offer "Supper and Skate" specials. L.A. Kings Holiday Ice also sponsors other locations near LA including the Westfield Topanga, Battleship Iowa, Redondo Beach Marina and the Pike in Downtown Long Beach.

The Rink in Downtown Burbank
The Rink in Downtown Burbank is a newbie among the outdoor ice-skating rinks in L.A. Only in its second year, this 4,100 square foot ice rink accommodates up to 165 skaters at a time for 90-minute sessions. Skating classes and curling lessons are also given on weekends. For the little ones just learning to skate, the Burbank rink even offers Bobby the Seal Skating Aids (it’s exactly what it sounds like). And the parking is FREE! More info here.
