Brookside Village is a small, unique geographical area bounded on the north by busy Wilshire Blvd., on the south by Olympic Blvd, on the west by Highland Ave., and on the east by Muirfield Rd. The name was chosen because of a natural stream, Rio del Jardin de las Flores, which flows year round from the Hollywood Hills south between Highland and Longwood. The architecture of the homes, dating from the 1920’s, reflect the beauty and craftsmanship of that earlier era. On these 8 streets, there are about 400 homes similar in styles to Hancock Park homes, but a little more affordable. Homeowners promote the single family residential character of the area through active participation in the Brookside Homeowners Association. The neighborly spirit prevails each summer for newcomers and long-time residents at the annual block party which is a potluck of international food, a magic show, petting zoo, games for children, and musical entertainment. Homes usually sell quickly in this small enclave. It is a very easy walk up to Wilshire where there are several businesses, restaurants etc.
