If I had my choice to live anywhere in LA, besides wanting a home on the beach, I would choose Windsor Square. Windsor Square is one of the oldest (1910’s and 1920’s) and most well-preserved neighborhoods in LA. Huge lawns, mature trees and central location five miles west of downtown and 12 miles from the beach, Windsor Square is a garden oasis in the heart of a world-class city.
Subdivided for development in 1911, Windsor Square was planned to be the most exclusive neighborhood in Southern California and the largest upper-class tract ever marketed in Los Angeles.
Windsor Square has 1,100 (mostly historic) homes and great ethnic diversity among neighbors. L.A. Times called the community “Mayberry-esque.” The friendly shopping village on Larchmont Boulevard is a short walk and very family and pet friendly. Some streets have been holding annual block parties for 30+ years.
In 2004, Windsor Square became the 21st Historic Preservation Overlay Zone in the City of LA. Almost 90% of its homes and structures were identified as being “Historic Contributors” in the Historic Resources Survey, one of the most intact historic neighborhoods in the nation.
Walk or drive this neighborhood to truly appreciate the beauty, diversity & quality. Homes are priced over $2.5 million. Boundaries are Beverly to the North, Wilshire to the South, Wilton to the East and Rossmore to the West. The Mayor lives just north of Wilshire.
